A sustainable textile industry requires accountability and transparency

Accountable and comprehensive certifications and designations are essential to ensure legitimacy of environmental claims, demonstrate industry leadership and to help guide consumers to make an informed choice.  The challenge for the textile industry is that there isn't one system that covers every facet of production. We work with an innovative and supportive supply chain and ask all our manufactures to verify raw material sources and manufacturing processes.

At Kusaga Athletic, one of our company's core values is environmental sustainability, it's a worthy concept for all of us on this planet. To help us achieve this, we are working with global leaders in environmental assessment and analytics. We are very proud to be one of only 1,900 companies to be a Certified B Corporation® and are currently undertaking an independent life cycle assessment of our products and production with consulting firm Edge Environment.

Kusaga Athletic uses the following certifications and designations to validate the environmental leadership of our products. We are sharing this information in our continuing effort to minimise our environmental impact, as well as remove the confusion around these terms and standards.

Certified B Corporation

B Corporations™ are a new type of corporation that is purpose-driven and creates benefit for all stakeholders, not just shareholders. B Corporations™ are unlike traditional businesses because they meet comprehensive and transparent social and environmental performance standards and institutionalise multiple stakeholder interests.

Forest Stewardship Council

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) standards represent the world’s strongest system for guiding responsible forest management, including the chain of custody in the manufacturing. A voluntary program, FSC uses the power of the marketplace to protect forests for future generations.

Oeko-tex logo

The STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® is a worldwide consistent, independent testing and certification system for raw, semi-finished, and finished textile products at all processing levels, as well as accessory materials used.

The bluesign® system is the solution for a sustainable textile production. It eliminates harmful substances right from the beginning of the manufacturing process and sets and controls standards for an environmentally friendly and safe production. This not only ensures that the final textile product meets very stringent consumer safety requirements worldwide but also provides confidence to the consumer to acquire a sustainable product.
